Adhering Standards:
Conforms to IEC60112-2009 - Method for determining the proof and comparative tracking indices of solid insulating materials.
This equipment specifies the testing method for determining proof and comparative tracking indices of solid insulating materials. It applies to pieces taken from parts of equipment and plaques of material using alternating voltages, ensuring accurate results.
State-of-the-Art Flammability Testing Equipment
Proof Tracking Index (PTI) Analysis
In scenarios where IEC standards or other specifications require a proof test only, 50 drop tests must be conducted per Clause 8 at a specified voltage. The specimens must endure the test period up to at least 25 seconds after the fiftieth drop without tracking failure or persistent flame.
Note: Operation of the over-current device by air arcs is not considered a tracking failure.
The proof voltage should be an integer multiple of 25 V, ensuring precision and consistency.
Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) Assessment
CTI determination requires identifying the maximum voltage at which five specimens withstand the test period for 50 drops without failure. Additionally, it must be verified if, at a voltage 25 V lower than this maximum, the specimen endures 100 drops. If not, the maximum 100-drop withstand voltage must be determined.
